Two Arrests Following Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident
An additional two individuals are now in custody related to a theft at London's Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals sustained injuries by a substance believed to be pepper spray, according to law enforcement.
A man, 24, was taken into custody in Lambeth on suspicion of robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was detained for suspected conspiring to commit a robbery. They both remain in custody, authorities confirmed.
The arrests follow a probe into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the incident, two women had stolen from them their luggage after getting out of a car park lift.
A three-year-old girl was one of the injured in the event. A total of five individuals went to hospital for medical care and have since been released.
Officers detained a man in his thirties on suspicion of robbery and assault near the location. He has since been released under investigation while inquiries continue.
Authorities were called at approximately 08:10 GMT following reports of several individuals injured by an irritating chemical believed to be pepper spray.
The assault - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not being treated as an act of terror - caused train delays and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a short time.
